Eager parents, curious siblings, proud grandparents, and supportive friends flocked to Insular Life Theater in Filinvest Corporate City last Feb. 22 and 23 to see their special girl in “The Littlest Empress”. As a show of support, some sat through it more than once.
The audience saw an almost effortless enactment of this original musical. Most commented on the visual & musical feasts, the colorful costumes, the transformation in both look and character as the girls played their parts on stage.
For those teachers and parents who worked behind the scenes for months, they witnessed how our girls were honed by the discipline required by this integrated performing arts activity. Just a few of the many lessons they learned: the show must go on even if one gets tired, cranky or sick; that a perfected song, dance or dialogue is satisfying for the soul as well as the senses; and that the paradox of working in harmony with a group of classmates is not conformity, but allowing one’s unique talents to emerge and contribute to the whole.
Fun, laughter and the applause of an appreciative audience were just a few of the rewards for a job well done. The greater reward was knowing that they have mastered another craft. A number of the girls said they’ve gained more than a few friends during this activity.
